  • Fran Margar-Bacal obtained a Master’s of Science Applied degree in Communication Disorders at McGill University.
     

  • She worked for two years in Quebec then moved to Toronto and has since worked at The Hospital For Sick Children for 39 years as Speech-Language Pathologist, mostly as a member of The Cleft Palate and Craniofacial Teams, performing clinical assessment, treatment and management, conducting applied research, and providing supervisory teaching and training to local and international students and professionals.
     

  • Fran is a passionate supporter of family-centred and comprehensive care for children with cleft lip/palate and craniofacial anomalies, and over the years has participated in numerous outreach clinics for children with cleft lip/palate and craniofacial anomalies. She has participated in and made numerous professional presentations in her area of expertise both locally and internationally; has contributed to scholarly publications in peer-reviewed journals.
     

  • At present, she practices privately as a Speech and Language Pathologist, and continues to volunteer with Transforming Faces an organization involved in the support of professionals working with cleft lip and palate internationally and at a Sick Kids staffed outreach medical clinic for uninsured children.
